You can absolutely prepare for the UPSC exam at home if you stay consistent, use the right resources, and follow a smart plan.

1. Download the UPSC syllabus and go through the previous year question papers (PYQs).
2. Start with NCERTs (6th–12th):

Polity: Class 9–12 + Laxmikanth
History: 6–12 + Spectrum
Geography: NCERT + GC Leong
Economics: Class 11–12 + basic understanding
Science: 6–10 NCERTs are enough

1. Divide your time: GS + Optional + Current Affairs + Revision
2. Study 6–8 hours/day if you’re full-time
3. Read The Hindu or Indian Express. Also Use monthly magazines: Vision IAS, Insights, or Drishti
4. Use questions from Vision IAS / ForumIAS / PYQs. Practice writing 2–3 answers daily
5. For Prelims, join test series (Vision/Insights) and for mains, Practice full-length papers once a week
