Infosys has added private insurer GoDigit as its new group health insurance provider, replacing the state-owned National Insurance Company (NIC), according to an internal email seen by Moneycontrol.
This covers the company’s entire workforce of over 320,000 employees.
Infosys and GoDigit did not respond to queries at the time of publication. This story will be updated as soon as a response is received.
GoDigit, backed by Canadian billionaire Prem Watsa’s Fairfax Group, has expanded into group health insurance and employee benefit solutions. Securing a mandate from one of the country’s largest IT firms represents a major step forward for the company in the competitive corporate insurance segment.
The reasons for NIC’s switch were not immediately known; however, it appears that private companies are gaining ground thanks to competitive pricing, faster claims processing, and technology-enabled services. The Bangalore-based company’s employee benefits expenses increased nearly 4% to Rs 67,466 crore in fiscal year 2025.
Interestingly, Infosys partnered with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in September last year to accelerate its digital transformation. The agreement focuses on omnichannel experiences and data-driven hyper-personalization for LIC customers, agents, and employees.
A 2024 report by insurtech platform Plum, which surveyed more than 4,500 companies, revealed a 15% increase in companies offering maternity benefits and a 110% increase in those offering comprehensive healthcare.
