Six Shatkarmas (Shodhan Kriyas) are described in Hatha Ratnavali.
These are the same six cleansing techniques commonly found in classical Hatha Yoga texts, such as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Gheranda Samhita. The six Shodhan Kriyas (Shatkarma) are:
- Neti: Nasal cleansing
- Dhauti: Digestive tract cleansing
- Basti: Colon cleansing (yogic enema)
- Nauli: Abdominal massage
- Kapalabhati: Forehead cleansing of the brain (forced exhalation)
- Trataka: Concentrated gaze (purification of eyes and mind)
Hatha Ratnavali describes eight shodhan kriyas, also known as shatkarmas. These are cleansing techniques used in Hatha Yoga to purify the body.
